Like no other, Leen Huet knows how to convey her admiration for the great masters, bizarre artists and forgotten writers to readers and listeners. The author has written the first proper biography of the sixteenth-century master Bruegel. She places him firmly in the cities of Antwerp and Brussels, where an ideological battle over religion and European unity raged. Against this background Huet depicts Bruegel’s evolution from draughtsman and printmaker into a painter who created an impressive oeuvre within just a few years and then died far too young. Come to KBR on the 21th of September and learn to look at Bruegel from a different point of view. This lecture will be held in English.
